What a fun, adventure-filled, romantic read! Exactly what I was looking for. Lucy Davenport and Keats McCall are both likable characters, and I enjoyed spending time in both of their heads. Their reasons for their actions seemed very real, and their chemistry was tangible. I also loved that RISKY SURRENDER took place in an ancient village in Arizona. The unique setting added to the feel of mystery and adventure that the story evoked. I'll definitely be reading more of Robin Bielman's books.
Another engaging and sexy story by Robin Bielman. The original story line in the Take a Risk series books is enjoyable to me and something I would not know about with regard to historical preservation. Great combination of action, romance, and likeable characters that you want to know more about even after the book ends. Don't miss the third book in the series either!!
Straight up I loved this book. I'm a big fan of Robin Bielman and loved Worth the Risk. I was equally anticipating Risky Surrender and Ms Bielman again delivers.
The tension sizzles between Keats McCall and Lucy Davenport. The setting is gorgeous! The dialogue is snappy, the characters are people I really enjoyed meeting. McCall is one hot tamale! I particularly loved the tree-top scene which is now on my bucket list to do. I really liked Lucy. She was vulnerable but tough. Watching McCall peel away her layers was a joy to read. The chemistry between the characters flamed up the pages. I so enjoyed meeting up with Dean and Sam from Worth the Risk.
If you want a fast, fun, flirty read then this book is for you.

I'm not going to summarize the story for you. The blurb can do that far better than I ever could. What I can do better than any blurb is tell you how much you're going to LOVE this author! Robin Bielman delivers every single time. She writes these fully-drawn, multi-dimensional heroines a reader can really relate to, (and aspire to). Lucy is no exception. And her heroes...holy smokes! Her guys are amazing, sharp, witty, swoooon-inducing! Keats is the best one yet, (and I can't wait for more).
The plot engages from the jump. She packs so much action and emotion into her stories, there's literally no good stopping point. Thankfully, because it's a novella, you can read it in one sitting...and prepare...'cause you will!
Worth the Risk was good. I gave it 3 stars. Risky Surrender was even better. Robin Bielman has blossomed more in this installment of her stand-alone series.
Lucy Davenport was fleshed out more than Samantha had been. But, interestingly to note, both of her heroes, Dean earlier and Keats in this book, were well-developed in both stories. Like many authors, her strength seems to be in writing stable, sexy, self-aware men.
If I had any complaint at all, I would wish Ms. Bielman would work on increasing the sexual suspense. Because both parties are so self-reflective, they admit to wanting each other, at least to themselves, early on. I'd prefer a bit more constraint on that part, to build the "will she won't she" feeling.
But, that's my preference. I will continue to look for more of Ms. Bielman's work.
"Risky Surrender is another well written contemporary romance by Robin Bielman. It can be read as a standalone book, but there is a scene that contains the couple from Worth the Risk and it is nice seeing how their story has progressed in the follow up novel if you have read it.
I really like Robin Bielman's style of writing and her ability to tell a good story. The characters are interesting, the story is interesting, and the information given is appropriate to the length of the book. That said, I find it really disappointing that both Worth the Risk and Risky Surrender are not going to be books pushed as "Must Reads" or books that you think back on in two months time and remember the details clearly as both are pleasant in between books due to their length and not because of the authors skill." ~ Iva

Risky Surrender is the second book in the Take a Risk series. I was so happy the Keats McCall got his own story. He was introduced in Worth the Risk and is definitely a charmer. Now he's met his match. Lucy Davenport is an archeologist who searches for important artifacts. He has what she wants. These two have a fiery attraction that leads to much more. However, Lucy has a mission. Can Keats convince her to believe in him? Lucy and Keats are amazing characters. They are caring and passionate about what they do. This book is smartly written and is impossible to put down. I love the romance and humor between these two lovers. They share a love of the past. I enjoy that Robin used historical preservation as the backdrop for this book. It adds relevance to her story. The secondary characters are delightful and full of promise. I hope that Clay gets his own book very soon. I also enjoyed the cameo by Dean and Sam (Samantha). I didn't want to put this book down until I knew that Keats and Lucy had the HEA. This is a delightful story.
